Brewmaster’s Seasonal Sampler

The Right Blend of Ingredients and Imagination

Blue Moon® Belgian White was our first year-round release back in 1995.

It started with our brewmaster, Keith Villa, wanting to craft a beer inspired by the flavorful Belgian Wits he enjoyed while studying brewing in Belgium. He brewed his interpretation using Valencia orange peel versus the traditional tart Curaçao orange peel, for a subtle sweetness. Then he added oats and wheat to create a smooth, creamy finish that’s inviting to the palate. As a final touch, he garnished the beer with an orange slice to heighten the citrus aroma and taste. Its natural unfiltered appearance adds to the depth of flavors in Belgian White.

Leave the Hustle and Bustle at the Door

Blue Moon Mountain Ale

It’s no secret that it gets pretty cold here in Colorado. So early on in the brewery’s history, our brewmasters wanted to create a beer that would do the trick on a snowy winter day. Today, we craft our winter wonder with roasted malts and dark. Belgian candi sugar for rich caramel and toffee notes. It’s perfect on those winter days when you’re stuck inside.

A Taste That’s Right Out of the Oven

Gingerbread Spiced Ale

Limited Winter Release.
Not too long ago, we asked fans to suggest ingredients for a new limited winter release that would best fit the season. After lots of great suggestions and tastings with fans, Gingerbread Spiced Ale came out on top. With tastes of ginger, cinnamon, and molasses, it’s clear why they chose this wintery brew.

Cinnamon Horchata Ale, mucho gusto.

For this beer, our brewmaster reached back to his roots and found inspiration in the traditional agua de horchata. Our cinnamon-spiced ale is his interpretation of this delicious Latin beverage.  It’s brewed with natural long-grain rice for a creamy texture to complement flavors of cinnamon, making it the perfect treat for a get-together with friends.

Two Styles. One Work of Art.

Blue Moon® Farmhouse Red Ale, much like our Blue Moon® Belgian White Belgian-Style Wheat Ale, was inspired by our brewmaster’s travels across Belgium.
His journey started in the southern region of Wallonia. If you ask him today, he’ll tell you stories about walking through the small town of Pipaix, discovering local Farmhouse Ales. The spicy yet refreshing character of these handcrafted ales piqued his curiosity. From there, he headed north to Flanders, a region well-known for its sour Belgian Red Ales. These refreshingly tart, deep red ales have an unmistakable taste that you have to experience for yourself.
Over the next 20 years, whenever he returned to Belgium, our brewmaster found himself drawn to these two styles. After sharing a couple of ales with old friends, he got the idea to blend the spice character of a Farmhouse Ale with the tartness of a Belgian Red Ale to create our Farmhouse Red Ale. His interpretation blends grains and specialty malts for a pleasantly tart finish.

A Maltier Pale Ale.

Rounder – Belgian Pale Ale

In the 1940’s, Belgian-Style Pale Ales grew in popularity and were ordered by the round due to their balanced taste. Rounder, our expression of this sessionable style, is crafted with hibiscus and orange peel for a hint of spiciness and touch of wheat for a smoother, rounder taste.
