Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Campo Viejo Rioja – Garnacha

  • The Brancott Estate Flight Song Sauvignon Blancpresents fragrant pink grapefruit and passionfruit notes on the nose. These aromas are followed by a sweet pungency and ripe lemon acidity that excite the palate, and a fresh, crisp and lively finish.

  • The grapes were harvested from early to mid-March 2013. The fruit was gently pressed before being fermented in a number of stainless steel tanks with a variety of yeast types. Ferments were at cool temperatures to retain the very distinctive regional and varietal character.

  • The 2013 season will be remembered as being a warm and early season that delivered bountiful crops. It was a season of two halves, with the first half being very warm, promoting early bud burst and flowering. This led to bountiful crops with larger than average bunches as well as high bunch numbers. The temperature in the second half of the season was slightly below average. This, in combination with the bountiful crops increased the time the crop was on the vine ripening. The first fruit for Flight Song Sauvignon Blanc was harvested on 5th March and was finished by the 18th of March.
  • On the nose the Brancott Estate Flight Song Pinot Grigio displays an array of floral notes with apple and Nashi pear, complimented by white peach and guava flavors. These fresh fruit flavors combine on the palate, with ripe ‘golden delicious’ apple like acidity to create balance.

  • The fruit for this wine was harvested early in March, from the 3rd to the 7th March 2014. It was gently pressed before being clarified and split to a number of ferments, in stainless steel tanks, with a variety of yeast types. Ferments were at cool temperatures to retain the very distinctive regional and varietal characters.

Brancott Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc

Ripe tropical aromas balancing nettle aromatics with
highlights of ripe grapefruit and white blossoms. This wine,
considered a benchmark of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, is
from fruit harvested across the Marlborough region famous for
this variety. The wine displays intensity with white stone-fruit
and pink grapefruit balancing refreshing nettle flavours almost
pungent in character. The fruit sweetness with crisp supporting
acidity is typical of the style.

Campo Viejo Rioja Garnacha
This new wine from Campo Viejo is something a little unusual: it’s still Rioja, but Rioja with a difference. The huge majority of Rioja wines are based on the Tempranillo grape, but many progressive producers have recently been releasing single varietal wines made from other local grapes. In this case, Campo Viejo has chosen Garnacha, also known as Grenache in France. The wine is 100% Garnacha, aged for four months in American oak barrels, and presents an abundantly creamy, juicy and soft berry-fruited nose. There’s that layer of vanilla, but really nice, buoyant fruit too. In the mouth there is more of that creamy softness. It’s not as structured and serious as some Riojas, but then it makes up for that with its easy drinkability. The wine is fresh and approachable, despite a hefty 14.0% alcohol. Bright and lively with vibrant flavors of berries and sweet spices it is very versatile matching nicely with pasta or meat dishes.
